St. Jude’s Impact On St. Mary’s And the Community

This weekend, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is hosting their annual “Marathon Weekend,” which includes a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon.  For the second year, St. Mary’s is partnering with the hospital and has an official team for the race. The partnership between St. Mary’s and St. Jude allows our school to support the hospital as they research, treat, and work to defeat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Epipen Maker Agrees to Pay Government $465 Million

On Friday, October 7 Mylan agreed to pay $465 million to the government after reaching a settlement with the Department of Justice and other agencies.  The recent settlement is a small step in effort to reduce the cost of EpiPens but only the beginning of reparations for Mylan. ​

Carla Hayden was sworn in on Wednesday, September 14, as not only the first woman but also the first African American to hold the title of Librarian of Congress. Hayden, representing the 85 percent women dominated library workforce, is now the head of the largest library in the world.
