Where Tatler shares its humor
Not me, Gucci is so much better
Cruise is the newest and “hottest” Chanel collection.
I saw the new bag collection with my own two eyes and had to run out of the store because I could not handle the tears streaming from my eyes, after being disgusted. If you couldn’t tell already, I was being SARCASTIC when I told you it was “hot.” I know once again, all of you will be thinking “Sriya, really, you have no authority to call such a popular item ugly.”
Chanel is a “high fashion house” that usually only specializes in women’s fashion. Founded in 1910 by Coco Chanel in Paris, France, the company attracted a lot of attention as a way for men and women to show off their wealth. In 1921, Chanel created the famous No. 5 perfume. As time went by, Chanel gained more and more popularity by attracting high-status customers like globe-trotting women, Instagram stars, hip-hop artists and wealthy young people.
Chanel markets itself exclusively to the wealthy and upper class. Owning Chanel, many believe, means being better than everyone else, being part of an elite culture.
I highly disagree with this philosophy. A person is not better than anyone else because she carries a bag that old women carried in the 1920’s (just saying). Brands like Chanel influence the younger generation into believing this nonsense. So Chanel, I love/hate you. I love your classic looks. Chanel No.5 is a classic and will always be. Chanel’s original collections were nice. However, Chanel does not deserve that much hype. Just saying, I like Gucci better.
