You have probably heard the sad news of the loss of Grizzlies player Marc Gasol. Sara Fraser professes her eternal love for the one and only “Big Spain.”

In the midst of the season of romance, my love for the Memphis Grizzlies has been slowly dwindling over the past 20 losses and may have died altogether with the loss of Memphis icon Marc Gasol.
Ignoring all statistics and reasonable sports-centered arguments, I can't help but be emotional about one of the last two members of the Core-Four leaving the Fedex Forum.

Dear Marc,
You are Memphis. From Lausanne to the Forum since 2008, the entire city of Memphis has been behind “Big Spain” from the beginning.

I read what you said about it being, “about the team looking what’s best for the franchise going forward.” You said you can’t “can’t take it personal … They’re doing what’s best for franchise and that’s the same thing I want. At end of the day, we all want what’s best for the Grizzlies.”

But Marc, I am taking your loss personally. I will miss your graceful jump shots, loud power dribbles under the basket, your nimble giant stature and that “Authentic Memphis” billboard.

So much has changed over the years in Memphis. Tony Allen and Zach Randolph are long gone, we have lost a LOT of games this year, and the Forum is just not as alive as it used to be. Gasol, though, has always been there, one of the steadfast leaders carrying on “Grit and Grind,” as well as the values of the Core Four into an uncertain future.

We will miss you Marc.
