Today, Wednesday, Feb. 5th, St. Mary’s celebrated and honored the hard work of several senior athletes in their college signing as they commit to continue their academic and athletic careers.

The following seniors signed to their respective colleges:
Mason Davis, Swimming at Washington and Lee University
Lucy Patterson, Swimming and Kenyon College
Eesha Gudiseva, Tennis at Ole Miss
Taylor Gallik, Soccer at Roanoke College

So much of St. Mary’s’ recent athletic success is due to these girls’ hard work. “Taylor literally saved our entire team this year, and we definitely would not have come as far as we did without her,” teammate Katie Krahn says of Gallik’s contribution to the soccer team’s placing 3rd seed in the division this season.

“Eesha has been undefeated locally for two years,” and she “never stops fighting,” according to her tennis coach Dan Singer.

This signing has been long anticipated for several of the girls who committed earlier this school year. “I am super excited because I have been looking forward to signing since I decided where I was going in September,” says Lucy Patterson.

But for many of their teammates, this signing is bittersweet. “It’s been really awesome getting to see them accomplish their goals,” says Patterson and Davis’ teammate Addie Heehs. “I’m really sad to see them leave, though; they’re like big sisters to me.”

Portraits of these athletes will be featured on the collegiate athlete wall in the new building, “leaving their mark on St. Mary’s,” according to Coach Bartholomew.
