Read more to find out about Lauren Davis and her bowling experiences. “Bowling’s for losers . . . and now I’m that loser!” says Lauren Davis (12), reminiscing about how her outlook on the sport has evolved since freshman year. What Lauren once thought was just an after school activity has changed into a lifelong passion over the past four years.
The St. Mary’s bowling team wrapped up their season with the state tournament Jan. 18. Although St. Mary’s lost overall, Lauren placed fourth in individuals. “Oh, what can I say about Lauren?” bowling coach Ms. Hogan reacts when asked about her star senior player. “She’s been on the team since freshman year and got good very quickly,” she goes on to explain. “Bowling is a lifetime sport, and I anticipate that she will be bowling for her life.” “Lauren is an amazing person . . . she’s so much fun to be around,” says teammate Catherine Ferguson (9). She explains how Lauren and her fellow upperclassmen on the bowling team mentor the newer players. “They show you what to do when you’re struggling, and if the coaches are with other people they’ll tell you to try this and that,” says Catherine. “I am the only senior on the team, and I need to be a role model,” continues Lauren. “I have this thing that I do before every match where we all go around and everyone high-fives me before every single game. Everyone gets pumped up and everyone supports each other even if you don’t do well in the match,” she says. When asked if Lauren will continue bowling past her high school career, she answers, “I’m definitely going to keep bowling. I’m going to be like the 90 year old woman at whatever bowling alley I go to!”
