This year the St. Mary’s students Elizabeth MacQueen (9) and Mallory Miller (11) were elected into leadership positions on the Tennessee Junior Classical League.
Miller was elected to the position of Communications Coordinator, and MacQueen was elected to the position of editor on the Tennessee Torch, the magazine published by the TJCL. In response to her victory, MacQueen said, “I am very excited for this opportunity as well as the chance to meet new people.” Ann Wilson (11) recently finished her term as the president of the TJCL. When reflecting over her term during this unusual year she said, “My term as president, although not what I expected, was absolutely wonderful. I was very sad I didn't get to do all of the normal presidents things like lead the General Assembly at state or help lead cheers at Nationals. However, my term was still amazing. I really loved every member of my board, and they really made my year….Overall, it was a very fulfilling term and I was very happy to see the TJCL doing well during my term.” St. Mary’s has had a successful year on the TJCL and plans to have a successful year ahead. Wilson hopes that St. Mary’s will continue to serve an important role on the TJCL and the NJCL, and that students will continue to hold leadership positions. Wilson says, “I know that JCL has changed my life for the better, and I hope it can keep on having a good influence on other students for years to come.”
