On Wednesday, Nov. 8, senior Evelyn Roberts officially signed to continue her lacrosse career at the University of Richmond. Over the course of her high school career, Evelyn has played lacrosse for St. Mary’s, No Excuses, and the Eagle Six lacrosse club in Atlanta. She has been named to the All State team every year since 8th grade, was chose as an U.S. All-American, and was selected as a Commercial Appeal Best of the Preps Finalist.

When asked what excited her most about the opportunity to continue on to her collegiate career, Evelyn says, “I am excited to be in a different part of the country. Also, being exposed to different players. People from the north play way different than people in the south.”

Despite her eagerness to play with new people and experience a new environment, Evelyn admits that she is a bit nervous about the new beginning. “I am mostly nervous for the new people. Plus, the workouts are going to be insane and balancing everything will be a challenge,” she says.

However, Coach John Bartholomew, Evelyn’s lacrosse coach here at St. Mary’s for the past five years, doesn’t seem to think that the challenge will be too much for Evelyn. He says, “Evelyn is a fierce competitor and is willing to go the extra mile to be great. She holds herself and her teammates accountable on and off the field.”

The St. Mary’s community is excited and proud to see what Evelyn will continue to do in her future seasons to come as a spider at the University of Richmond.
