With the death of Fidel Castro, the former dictator of Cuba, many changes in Cuba are likely to occur. However, his death may be more symbolic, since he has been out of power since 2008, and the country has been run by his brother Raul Castro. This weekend, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is hosting their annual “Marathon Weekend,” which includes a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon. For the second year, St. Mary’s is partnering with the hospital and has an official team for the race. The partnership between St. Mary’s and St. Jude allows our school to support the hospital as they research, treat, and work to defeat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
