Tatler Recommends: Whether you want to relax after a long day of work on Thursday, or you're looking for a fun night out with some friends on Saturday, the Levitt Shell satisfies all options for a great night of live music.
Over the next few weeks, the Levitt Shell is hosting several bands and artists as a part of the fall season of their 2016 Orion Free Music Concert Series. Concerts take place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, until the series comes to a close on October 23. This year, the series features a diverse array of talents including Motel Mirrors, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and Balkan Beat Box. This series is sponsored by many well known businesses and companies such as Pepsi®, Memphis Grizzlies®, AutoZone®, and many more.
Abby Baskind (12) explains that “Free entertainment is important for fostering community culture” and our local arts “couldn’t exist without community support.” The Levitt Shell has been providing entertainment to Memphians for the past 80 years, making the organization a major part of support for the local arts.
The Levitt Shell is open to anyone who wants to watch and enjoy the music that is offered. As sophomore Annie Leatherman says, “it’s a fun and easy way to get involved with the city and exposed to new music."
