Updated at 10:43 a.m. This Saturday, Sep. 7 is the Indie Memphis Youth Film Fest, located at the Halloran Centre at the Orpheum downtown. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with “Bluff City Law” star, Caitlin McGee speaking about acting and starting a career in the field of film, but the festivities last all day long. Throughout the day are various workshops covering disciplines like acting, production and art design, directing and cinematography, and even virtual reality. Lunch will be provided by Aldo’s, followed immediately by the youth film screenings at 12:45 p.m. Our very own Lily Cloud has an original film, “On Edge,” being shown as part of the CrewUp mentorship program, which features films made by teams of students chosen for a highly selective six-month mentorship program sponsored by the Grizzlies Foundation. Audience members will vote for their favorite films, pushing the best of the best into the next round of competition, Showcase. ![]() At 3:45 p.m., the films chosen for Showcase will be screened. While festival-goers enjoy tacos courtesy of Maciel’s Taco Shop, the judges deliberate in preparation for the 6:15 p.m. Competition Screening. The festival is concluded by the award show at 8:45 p.m. Be sure to get your free pass and ticket online, using this link.
