I went to the year 2000

We must have been on “Cloud Nine” in 2010.  I was in first grade. Justin Bieber’s “Baby” had just dropped. “Camp Rock” pulled a staggering 8.9 million views on Disney Channel.

Even though “Drake and Josh” first aired five days before I was born and ended before I turned four, Josh Peck’s Youtube channel is popular with people who didn’t watch the show, as well as those who did. Flash forward to today, all three are married, and one has a baby, making me realize that they got older with us. So what happened between the Disney stardom and the wedding bells for these three?

Justin Bieber has had many a girlfriend, but Selena Gomez is probably the most iconic of the bunch. The couple first hung
out alone one night at an International House of Pancakes in Philadelphia after Bieber’s manager reached out to Selena’s mom and manager. From there, they dated on and off for over eight years (emphasis on the on and off).  Every time they broke up, no one thought it would be the last time until it was. Then, Justin started dating Hailey Baldwin, and it broke the little “Jelena” part of my heart. What really twisted the knife was when Baldwin changed her Instagram handle to @haileybieber in November of this past year after the couple became engaged. Weird is an understatement to describe the fact that Justin Bieber is getting married on Feb. 28. Even weirder is that it isn’t to Selena in baggy jeans anymore.

Most do not know that Nick Jonas got his start on Broadway after being noticed at a Dallas barbershop as a six-year-old.  He was picked up by Disney in 2007 and cast in “Camp Rock” with his two brothers, followed by “The Jonas Brothers: The Concert Experience” and the second and last “Camp Rock” movie. But Nick, always known as the “baby” in the group, had many girlfriends after “The Final Jam.” He dated Miley Cyrus and wrote the 2012 song “Wedding Bells” about their relationship. He also dated Selena Gomez, Rita Ora, Delta Goodrem, Kate Hudson and Lily Collins. It appears that Jonas is a fan of beauty queens, as he has dated Miss Universe 2012, Olivia Culpo, and Miss Universe 2000,
his new wife Priyanka Chopra. The newlyweds first met at the 2018 Oscars, reportedly texting until their attractions were rekindled at the Met Gala last May. They married in December 2018. I think this just might be the most interesting relationship on the list, as they just met and Chopra is 10 years Jonas’ senior.

Josh Peck and Paige O’Brien dated for the longest by far before getting married in June of 2017. They were engaged in Paris and had a small personal wedding. The most shocking part was that neither Miranda Cosgrove nor Drake Bell, Peck’s “Drake and Josh” co-stars, were invited to the wedding, and Bell took issue with the diss, sharing his opinion all over social media. However, the couple did invite other celebrity co-stars, including John Stamos, who acted in “Grandfathered” with Peck. In the wake of this drama, Peck melted everyone’s hearts when he announced on his Youtube channel that his wife was expecting a child, Max Milo, who was born New Year’s Eve of last year.

These celebrities are forever teenagers in my brain, seeing them do grown-up things, like getting married and having children makes me realize that I’m also getting older. Who knows where we’ll be in the year 3000.
